VERSION 1
Americans' satisfaction with the way things are going has fallen to just 11%. That's from the Gallup poll – lowest number recorded in 30 years – except for the poll in the week right after the 2008 economic collapse, when only 7% said things were going well:
GRUMPY1.wav :07 “...are treated poorly.”
GRUMPY1.mp3 :07 “...are treated poorly.”

Obviously, you can't control how customers feel or act. But, an employer can make sure company employees always treat customers right, no matter how the employee may feel on a given day. That will also improve chances of customers feeling good and acting properly.
Gallup says lots of factors contribute to American grumpiness: our soldiers dying in two wars, millions of people out of work, a “laughable political system”, “debt ceiling shenanigans” and the plummeting stock market.
VERSION 2

GRUMPY2.wav :07 “...try to treat people right.”
GRUMPY2.mp3 :07 “...try to treat people right.”

The latest Gallup poll shows Americans' satisfaction with the way things are going down to just 11%. That's the lowest number recorded in 30 years – except for the poll in the week right after the 2008 economic collapse. At that time, only 7% said things were going well.
OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL INFO:
Several stories suggest that because of the economy and frustration with Washington, Americans are grumpier and more rude than ever before:
